On August 15, 2024, Puri Jagannadh directed Double iSmart (2024), a Telugu science fiction action film produced by Ram Pothineni and Charmy Kaur, starring Sanjay Dutt, Ali, and Kavya Thapar. It is a spiritual sequel to iSmart Shankar released in 2019. Although the film was highly expected; but unfortunately in reality received mixed to negative reviews and soared from the box office .

According to Imdb the plot revolves around an assassin, nicknamed Big Bull who wants to switch his mind onto a body of another man named Shankar, leading to intense battles between the two man.

Sanjay Dutt debuts his role of Big Bull, alongside Pothineni as Shankar while Ali and Kavya Thapar join the cast.

The film also announced the score compositor to be Mani Sharma alongside Shyam K. Naidu and Gianni Giannelli taking to work as the cinematographer.

Critics have argued that the incoherent plot, combined with weak character portrayals, is one of the major reasons why the film has been badly received. BVS Prakash of Deccan Chronicle gave it 2/5 stars saying, “After a flop like Liger, Puri Jagannadh seems to be trying his hand at Double iSmart." This is a sci-fi series but it seems the choice of plot is not enterprising enough." Sowmya Rajendran of The News Minute gave it a blazing 1/5 writing, “Puri gives us double torture.” Neeshita Nyayapati of Hindustan Times noted, "The issue is not about making a character likeable, it is about making a story worth watching.”
